Equipment Upgrades and Additions

Operators are constantly upgrading their installations. These works generally fall into three categories;

  • Antenna Upgrades

  • Transmission Upgrades

  • Base Station Equipment Upgrades (hardware upgrades)

These may result in further construction and engineering works necessitating the requirement for further planning and design approvals.

Pentacom Networks Limited ensures that all of the necessary approvals are in place prior to the commencement of such works.

Antenna Upgrades – This may result in additional antenna being installed for alternative technologies or sharing agreements. It may also involve the replacement of antenna resulting in further transmission from the site. The type, size and location of the antenna can also change.

Transmission Upgrades – As future networks have increasing volumes of traffic and call revenue, transmission upgrades (which is the ability to get the signals back into the overall network) need to be undertaken. Pentacom Networks Limited predicts that over the next 10 years significant upgrades in transmission on sites will take place.

Pentacom Networks Limited will ensure market value is achieved in return for consenting to these works.

Hardware Upgrades – Due to the increasing volume of call and data being transmitted through the airwaves, hardware itself is being upgraded in order to satisfy demand. The new high speed data technologies will result in a significant increase in hardware inside cabins, as well as the install of additional cabinets.
